Armigeres Mosquito

Armigeres sp.

Description:

This Armigeres mosquito is a member of the family Culicidae. Like many other mosquitoes, this one can appear quite beautiful in a close up photo. It is ironic that it is also a danger to humans because they are known to be vectors of many diseases, notably Malaria and Dengue Fever.

Habitat:

This Mosquito was spotted on roadside foliage, bordering a small pool of water which is fed by a hillside stream in the rainy season, but in the dry season, no longer topped up and refreshed by the stream, it becomes stagnant - ideal mosquito breeding conditions.
