Giraffe

Giraffa camelopardalis

Description:

Knob like horns are present on the head and these are well developed in adult bulls.

Habitat:

dry savanna woodland

Notes:

I spotted this Giraffe calming eat while on Safari in Hluhlue/Umfolozi National Park. Later we saw family walking away with the setting sun on them as seen in the last photo.

We saw a couple of young male giraffes banging heads & necks when we were in south africa - it was an amazing sight to see!

We were told that you can sex a giraffe by it's horns - the females have hair on theirs but the males don't as it gets rubbed off when they bang heads to establish dominance!
