I took this picture at La Aurora natural reserve. I was in a wetland on a boat.
The locals call them aruco (in spanish)
Hi aliceWell what I know about these birds is that there are only three members in their family which is the Anhimidae. the amazing part is that they are related to ducks because the ancestors of the ducks were screamers. so what happen was that the screamers that are left exist because they did not evolve into ducks.
Very different, I wonder if they are related to our turkeys.
