Northern Copperhead Snake

Agkistrodon contortrix

Notes:

I had hiked up to a cliff (lookout point) & these people were freaking out saying there was a Rattlesnake under a boulder this child was sitting on. So imediately it was "Jamie to the rescue!" I grabbed a stick & proceded to hook it & pull it out. I pinned its head to the ground with the stick & grabbed it behind its jaw bone. I was then asked to educate this youth group,so I did. I then placed the snake in my backpack & was on my way. I kept it well fed for 3 months then released it in an area less frequented by humans. ;o)
