Rainbow Shield Bug

Calidea dregii

Description:

I used to think that this type of bug was Chrysocoris stollii, but Wikipedia says "records from Korea, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Indonesia are erroneous." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysocori...... Võ Anh Tuấn very kindly helped me out with this one by providing the name Calidea dregii and when I checked it on the internet, the pictures seem to match very well. Importantly, the distribution includes Southeast Asia. https://insects.fandom.com/wiki/Calidea_...

Habitat:

Spotted on a banana leaf in the rice mill backyard.

Hi Võ Anh Tuấn,
thank you once again for helping me with one of my problematic bugs. When you take the trouble to give me advice, I always like to incorporate your species identification into my spotting right away, to show how much I appreciate it. But I have to go and get some sleep now, I am having one of my evenings when I am feeling my age. I will have a good look at this one in the morning (I always feel brighter in the mornings) and get it sorted out. Thanks again. Best Regards, John B.
