Puffball Fungus

Lycoperdaceae family

Description:

White oval object about 6cm long that was firmly rooted to the ground. When I touched it with my foot to move it, the object cracked and moved to expose a mustard colored inside that resembled dirt.

Habitat:

Underneath unknown tree in field near Lake Hodges

Notes:

Possibly Calvatia pachyderma or Bovista pila

Its a fungus in the Lycoperdaceae family. Commonly called puffball fungus
