Melba Finch

Pytilia melba

Description:

This Melba Finch was rather curious about this lizard that had gone into defensive mode (total freeze). A rather large jump from eating termites (presumably its favourite).

Habitat:

They naturally inhabit much of tropical and mainly eastern Africa. Within this large area they particularly prefer dry and fairly open country provided there is thorny acacia or other bush cover available. This one was found in eastern Namibia.
