urchin fossil

Description:

found on Bandon beach. I love how on one side the open area at the base of the shell is clearly visible and how on the other the spines are. Reminds me of a modern pencil urchin

Fossils and Artifacts are waaaaaaaay kewl to find. i found a wierd very dark Rock, shaped somewhat like a breast plate or thigh ... i thought it was a petrified tree 'er something from this pith like shape in the center~ turns out it is a dinosaur fossil and the pith is actually the bone marrow fossilzed...
The urchin certainly a lot prettier!

Awesome spotting. I've never seen them here in San Diego or on the Oregon coast :( I'll keep looking!

I used to live in San Diego and made many trips to Torrey Pines beach to look for fossils. None of those compared to this gem

This is so like the art of Andy Goldsworthy and, differently, Isamu Noguchi. What a great find!

It was sitting on a drift log. So I think someone else found it, and perhaps only saw the circle. Best fossil I've ever found.
