Angelica sylvestris
Wild angelica is biennial, umbelliferous plant that can grow up to 2 meters. It has broad leaves, indented and pointed on a coarse, tubular stem. Edges of leaflets are finely toothed. Flowers appear from July until September, grouped into wide flower clusters. They are green white in color. The root is long and thick, the outer side is dark brown, and the inside is white and juicy, with a sponge-like texture when dried. It flowers from July to September.
Wild Angelica grows on grazing grounds, cultured land and along streams, fields, hedgerows, open woods, marshes, woodlands, shady forest margins but rarely in deep shade. It will grow in sandy, loamy and clay soils. Angelica proliferates in acid, neutral and alkaline soils. It can be found in dry or wet habitats but prefers moist slopes.
