Peacock Butterfly

Description:

The butterfly is a fairly large butterfly with wingspan of 50 - 60 mm. The antennae are greyish brown with white tip. The upper side of the wings has a brownish red color, slightly darker at the root. At the tip of the front wing and near the front corner of the hind wing is a large, black-edged eye spot. The one on the front wing is colored in red, yellow, blue and black while on the back wing it has blue core. The body is tightly clothed with rather long, rising hair.

Habitat:

In a small park.It is sitting on a Canada goldenrod that has caused widespread concern.
