Io Caterpillar

Automeris io

Description:

Nice thick green worm with a green fuzzy perm, and a white stripe down it's side. Rescued from certain death when found on a Friends' Hibiscus. Brought him home to my Hibiscus so I could take pictures.

Habitat:

I had never seen one eating Hibiscus leaves before. But Lily kills any living thing that comes close to her house and she thought she was going to scream when I gently put him in a bottle to bring to my house.

Notes:

Can you put Caterpilars under Butterflies and Moths?

How funky! Love him. That's exactly the kind of thing I would do. It's fascinating watching the wildlife as well as trying to capture them in pics.
