Ghost Crab

Ocypode

Description:

I accidentally disturbed this guy while I was walking on the beach this weekend at the Centennial Celebration at the Padre Island National Seashore. Crabs normally scavenge but are infamously known to kill and eat Sea Turtle. This little guy was about the size of my hand and he was pretty quick when it was time for him to skedaddle to look for another hiding or feeding spot. this little guy was very cooperative to let me take it's picture.

Habitat:

Beaches and Seashores
