Malayan Giant River Turtle / Biuku

Orlitia borneensis

Description:

One of the rarest turtle in Indonesia. Because of its enormous size (Carapace length can be over than 80 cm), its often hunted by the local people for food. Of course its often sold (illegally) in east Asian market as food too.

Habitat:

Pond, Lake, and River. Especially in Sumatran and Borneo.

Notes:

This turtle is safely keep in "Zoo" in east java. (safe = i mean far from boiling water)
