Blue Jay

Cyanocitta cristata

Description:

The blue jay is a medium-sized corvid with striking blue plumage. It is known for its aggressive nature and its loud, non-musical cry. They have been known to visit bird feeders.

Habitat:

This jay was sitting in bushes and trees, crying out, presumably to attract a mate for the breeding season. It was in a nature preserve.

Notes:

Blue jays are hard to photograph because they tend not to stay still.
