Black Phoebe

Sayornis nigricans

Description:

The Black Phoebe is a medium-sized flycatcher. It has predominately black plumage, with white on its belly and under tail coverts. The bird has brown irises, and black legs, feet, and beak. The phoebe can be recognized by a characteristic 'tail-wagging' motion, in which the tail is lowered and fanned, then slowly

Habitat:

near pond.

Notes:

Although primarily insectivorous, they will occasionally catch fish. The male Black Phoebe shows the female potential nest sites by hovering in front of a likely spot. The female makes the final decision about where to place the nest and does all the construction. They are territorial and solitary nesters, often remaining year-round in an established territory. A group of flycatchers has many collective nouns, including an "outfield", "swatting", "zapper", and "zipper" of flycatchers.

Karen, that is a good idea.I will keep that in mind ,next time around.
I think that this kind of collage would be good for birds like Egrets,Herons and cormorants, who strike 10 different poses in 10 seconds. Head up , Head down ,one leg up ,one leg down, neck straight ,next twisted and so on and so forth.

Nice series!
It is a good format to be able to compare - I would like to see more detail though so maybe you could also upload each photo separately Emma?

Its good to have all pics on one page. There is nothing about unacceptable. As long as the pics are your's nobody should have a problem. Actually I liked the idea so I asked.

@ satyen, there is not anything much to it than simple collage formation.
i feel that if yo have all the info on one page then yoou can compare and contrast easily.
Some pictures ,even though they do not provide a detailed look ,provide important clues . For instance picture number 4 is very valuable in identifying a black Phoebe."The phoebe can be recognized by a characteristic 'tail-wagging' motion, in which the tail is lowered and fanned, then slowly "But i am not sure if this format is acceptable by PN
