Description:

Turmeric is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae and native to tropical Indian Subcontinent. Turmeric is mostly used in savory dishes, but is used in some sweet dishes, such as the cake Sfouf. Turmeric is considered highly auspicious and holy in India and has been used extensively in various Indian ceremonies for millennia. Even today it is used in every part of India during wedding ceremonies and religious ceremonies.
