Novaculichthys taeniourus
This is also known as Sand Wrasse, Reindeer Wrasse, Dragon Wrasse, Masked Wrasse, Olive-scribbled Wrasse and Carpet Wrasse. They feed on hard shell invertebrates and grow to about 25cm in length.
Found in pairs in areas of mixed sand and rubble where one lifts and turns a piece of rubble while the other fish catches the prey. Juveniles are found singly in lagoons and on reef flats. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.
