Description:

The Common Imperial (Cheritra freja) is a small butterfly found in Kerala that belongs to Lycaenidae family.The Butterfly has a Brown upperside with white bands. The Hind Wings consists of a tail .It is coloured from pale yellow to white on the lower side with black margins on it.False eye-spots and elongated tail filaments on a butterfly's rear-end are thought to deceive predators into attacking the tail, rather than the more vulnerable head of the butterfly.
