Ribbon Eel

Rhinomuraena quaesita

Description:

Found singly or in pairs on coral and rocky reefs in sand and rubble areas, waving its head around waiting for its prey. Juveniles are jet black with yellow fin; females are yellow; males can be blue, black or yellow. They feed on small fishes, and grow to a length of about 1.2m.

Habitat:

Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.

Notes:

The photos are of a male adult ribbon eel, and the video is of a juvenile ribbon eel.
