I found this foam on the ground but there wasn't an insect around or in it. I'm not sure if the groundcover would have caused this. Anyone know what would cause this?

Hi alexiaklayman, that's what I thought too but I used a twig to search for one and there wasn't anything. I suppose it could have left and the foam remained. It does seem the most logical explanation! Thank you.
I have seen similar growing up in Michigan. As a child we called them "spit bugs". The foam was a form of an egg sack.
