wild apple?

Malus sylvestris

Description:

The last apple left in the tree. I am not sure it is a real wild apple tree. No leaves were left, only one apple. It was at the mountains, quite high in a not cultivated area, but on the margins of the path. So I will be back to the place next spring to see if it is possible to discriminate.

Habitat:

1600 meter high in Sierra de Guadarrama

No it is not quince. The fruits I found under the tree did not smell as quince.
