Description:

The Anhinga is a water bird and the word "anhinga" comes from the Brazilian Tupi language and means devil bird or snake bird. It is a dark-plumed bird with a very long neck, and often swims with only the neck above water.

Habitat:

Anhinga species are found all over the world in warm shallow waters.

Notes:

This bird was spotted on a private pond in the Iona area of Fort Myers, Florida.
