Weevil

Description:

A light brown-colored fungus weevil with some dark brown patterns. It's length is about 1cm / 10mm. Litocerus sp.

Habitat:

Plants of Kinabalu park, Kundasang, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

genus ID tentative. Has last three antennal segments about equal (middle one smaller in similar genus Acorynus), and a cross pattern on pronotum, which I think does not occur outside these two genera.

Ah well done Chun. Anthribidae family name to go in here? It still looks unusual for a weevil even if it is a common one. Longish thin legs and antennae.

Hi Mark, finally after 2 years I managed to identify this as Anthribidae weevils.

Yes, those 2 black hemispheres on it's head are it's eyes.
I'll try to search for this species again and take a clear, detailed picture of it next time.

Really need a shot of mouth parts and front for good ID - might be common there but nowhere else in the universe.
If those black things are its eyes maybe not weevil.?
