The Monarch butterfly (9-10cm) is easily recognized by it striking orange color outlined in black. It also has a distinctive outer band of black with white dots. Its host plant is milkweed.

Thanks Nicole! I was thrilled just to get a shot. I had seen several throughout the day but none except this guy would pause for a photo.
