In Native bush in a reserve was where this one was found.

Notes:

Was a little baby one, and was awake in the day and it even went to sleep in the sun in front of us. Oh so cute.

Congratulations you two!! Lovely shots. Another cute species introduced in NZ but I think these guys aren't as problematic as the Aussie possums though.

Congratulations, your great series has earned you Spotting of the Day! European hedgehogs were introduced to New Zealand by colonists in the 1870s to remind them of their homeland. The species has thrived and spread throughout the country, and may have contributed to the decline and extinction of up to fifteen bird species as their diet includes eggs and chicks of ground nesting birds.

They can live anywhere really. In gardens, or bush. I think they can be a pest here actually.
