Two photos of the Ceiba tree, the Central World Tree of the Mayan culture. The left is a young tree displaying the unmistakable thick conical thorns around the trunk. To the right is a mature tree, approximately 60 feet tall.
The Ceiba tree is found in tropical areas.
In the Mayan culture the Ceiba tree connects the planes of the Underworld (Xibalba), the terrestrial realm and the skies.
