Water Strider

Description:

The body of these animals measures approx 5/8" long. They are in the midst of mating.

Habitat:

In a year round puddle in the midst of the dry season in NW Costa Rica.

Thanks Lindey. These species have many common names such as; water striders, water bugs, magic bugs, pond skaters, skaters, skimmers, water scooters, water skaters, water skeeters, water skimmers, water skippers, water spiders, or Jesus bugs.
There are so few photo records on the internet that I couldn't be sure which it is without a true scientific evaluation.
