Picea abies
Poor soil next to a pond
Whether my suggestion is ultimately correct or not, I'm unsure of. It is definitely a type of spruce it looks like, but the best I could narrow it down to is the Norway. It seems to take on the spacious hanging branches more than the other species do. = ) The species is found in New York, yet I'm not positive if it is one of the native or non-native. It seems the larger more full ones have been used quite a bit as New York's Christmas tree. Hope the suggestion helps. . .or is at least correct, lol. = )
