Painted Buckeye

Aesculus sylvatica

Description:

Deciduous shrubs, approximately 2.5-3 feet tall, leafing out/leafed out. These are young shrubs; they may grow to 6-7 feet tall. Leaves are opposite, palmately compound with 5-7 leaflets. Buds are forming.

Habitat:

Growing on south-facing slope in open mixed deciduous/pine forest.

Notes:

One of the first woody plants to leaf out in Spring.
