Emma - I think it could be nest from a Field Fare or a Song thrush, it's a lot of them there ;)

Stian ,did you see any black birds or field fares?

Thanks! Will do ;)

Fieldfare is also possible, both are of similar construction and size and both build in urban areas. It might be worth watching what is seen in that location this spring and summer in case they build again.

It could be a Blackbird we have a lot of them, or maybe a Fieldfare?

Emma, only just saw this, we have a Goldfinch nest here, it is only 5cm inside diameter and 7cm outside, so much smaller than this one. When the bird was on it her head was hanging over one side and tail sticking out the other side! From the size Stian has given it sounds more like a Blackbirds nest, or something near that size. I will check some nest sizes from the old books.

You can put this up on the Cornell website for ID.They helped me ID a bush tit nest.

They don't breed here now, we have around 40-50cm with snow now =)
I will take a trip down there one day and take some more picture of the nest and get the size of the nest ;)

It could also be a Blackbird if it is large, a Goldfinch or Serin if it is tiny, or anything in-between! It seems to be a standard bird-design! Its almost certainly last years as they should not be thinking about breeding again just yet where you are. Down here some have already started but we are a few thousand miles further south!

Thanks Liam & Malcolm...
Maybe this could be the nest of a Goldcrest of White-throated dipper?

I will go down there one day and find out what size the nest are ;)

It might help if you can give us some idea of the size of the nest, outside and inside diameter.

Looks to be some sort of passerine, but other than that I cannot tell.

@Emma- Yes, this is a mystery. This can be a flycatchers nest that has fallen down from the bridge above...

Maybe Liam knows what this is...

this is a mystery. We have phoebes here which like to build nest under bridges. Small Flycatcher birds.
