Description:

Butterfly milkweed "is a tuberous rooted, Missouri native perennial which occurs in dry/rocky open woods, glades, prairies, fields and roadsides throughout the state" Previously in the family Asclepiadaceae (milkweeds however newer treatments lump the milkweeds into the dogbanes family, Apocynaceae.

Habitat:

These shrubs were growing in an untended verge between a parking lot and a vacant vegetated lot.
