Pileated Woodpecker

Dryocopus pileatus

Description:

Female, denoted by the lower black stripe on the head, which is red in males.

Notes:

I have photographed (and posted earlier) a male in the same tree. Though I have seen a male and a female together in the general area, I am not sure if they are the same ones photographed here and earlier separately. Note the tongue.
