Waxbill

Description:

A large flock of birds was feeding in the long grasses of the meadow so I took a couple of photos to look through later, this was one of the birds, the Goldfinch in the previous picture was in the same photograph. Waxbills are not native to Europe but are popular cagebirds, many have been released into the wild and formed very large local populations in many parts of the world.

Not a good picture but a useful record shot. Also known as Common Waxbill and St. Helena Waxbill. I have much better pictures of these across the border in Spain which I will post later.
