Crocosmia montbretia
Delicate long racemes with bright orange flowers. The plant can get up to 4' tall with flower stalks extending out and down-facing flowers looking like falling stars.
Open grass lands, moist open forests, gardens
This plant is an african native but can be found in gardens in many countries. Here in Victoria, we see it growing wild on low ranges and in state forests - obviously invasive. It adds a bright touch to very dark damp spots in the forest.

Yes martinl, unfortunately this place beside the Belgrave lake is overrun by invasive species - like ranunculus (buttercups), hypericum, crocosmia and Tradescantia among others. They seem to be smothering natives !
Most of my postings of flowers are non-natives - maybe I should start-up a mission on invasive/foreign species (plants only).
Yes it sounds like a weed to me. Pic 2 has leaves of another weed Ranunculus.
they soon will be I think - they take over but, I don't think they're difficult to get rid of if you start early. Having said that, you might leave behind a bulb or two and then it starts all over again !!
Very attractive flowers when they grow wild all over. Are they a 'weed' there yet?
