Common Brushtail Possum

Trichosurus vulpecula

Habitat:

Forests, parklands. Not seen so much in very dry areas.

Notes:

This is a young mum with her baby. They should not be up on our shade cloth - but who can resist this lovely sight ! They annoy people especially when they get into the roof and they do make a racket at night. Possum houses are built on to trees near houses to stop them from coming to "nest" in roofs. We built a "possum paradise motel" but nothing happened - they did not like the design, perhaps ! Sorry about the spooky eyes..

Thanks Satyen, you're right - should have advertised on every tree and lamp post !!

Maybe that would have helped.

Superb spotting. Too bad they did not like the motel. Maybe lack of proper advertisement?
