Creeping Crumble Cap

Coprinus disseminatus

Description:

At first creamy white and then turning grey, they seem to take over stumps or logs in wet alien forests on windward Big Island Hawaii.

Habitat:

Wet windward alien forests, like Waipio Valley where we found these growing on a coconut palm stump.

Notes:

A fallen Monkey pod log in the Tropical Botanical garden in Onomea, Big Island, had an estimated 10,000 fruiting bodies on it one cool, damp morning. Wow!!
