This is what we were told it was, but I'm having trouble finding any reference material. The fruits do bear some resemblance in taste to pineapples

Curious! Certainly doesn't look like an Ananas species. Pineapple is Ananas comosus but the other species I've seen also share the some form of infructescence. Do you have any pictures of the whole plant?
