Marbled Orbweaver

Araneus marmoeus

Description:

I'm certain this is a male and female of the same species, the female carrying an egg sack maybe? What I suspect to be the egg sack has an interesting pattern on it, very beautiful. I also think it looks like she's going to eat him!

Habitat:

In the back yard, approximately 2 feet off the ground on a web strung between a tree and a building structure.

Very cool, Thanks Goody!I should've recognized that she was an orb weaver, I've mistaken the large abdomen for a possible egg sack previously. I'll set up the tripod for better shots next time.

This is definitely a pair and the bubble on her posterior is her abdomen. I believe you spotted and chronicled courtship. :-)
