Anas platyrhynchos domesticus
The domestic Crested Duck is a selected duck breed descended from the Mallard. It has its appearance because it is heterozygous for a genetic mutation causing a deformity of the skull. In particular, this mutation causes the duck to be born with a gap in its skull, which is filled with a growth of fatty tissue. It is from this growth that the pouf of feathers sprouts. I suspect the brown duck to be the proud father of the indian runner females' progenia shown in the previous spotting :-)

Great information Marta.Thanks.
Very nice!
I find them really cute and odd-looking. Although the selection of this breeding is not fun for the poor duckies, at least they do not seem to suffer much from it :-)
Wow..so cute <3
