Caper Flower

Capparis sinaica

Description:

Caper flowers bloom during the night. C. sinaica blooms all in white, turning purple and wilting the following day. All photos in the collage are of the same bloom. First photo was taken at 7 am. Last photo at 5 pm.

Notes:

Bloom was on a plant in my garden, grown from a local wild seed.

Thanks! No, they don't last long - but sometimes the purple filaments stick around for a few days, which is always a nice treat. This year I had to decide on whether to pickle the buds or let them bloom - tough choice. ;-)
