Plains Prickly-pear Cactus

Opuntia polyacantha

Description:

This prickly-pear cactus is 15-30 cm tall with greatly flattened ovoid stems from which radiate large thorns. Flowers are yellow and 5-7 cm in diameter with reddish stamens.

Habitat:

Arid landscapes.
