Pseudacris crucifer
Spring peepers are 0.75 - 1.25 inches long. They are brown to gray and usually have a dark "X" on the back that may sometimes be partial.
They are found in wooded or brushy areas near temporary or semi-permanent bodies of water throughout Tennessee.
One of the first sounds of Spring. The call is a high pitched, piping whistle, "peep, peep, peep."

What a wonderful photo! I am sharing at my nature group at FB because this is Awesome Amphibian week there.
Hi Lisa, was sent your way in the ID Help Chat. KarenL thought you may be able to help me (and my girls) figure out what kind of frog they found in the backyard. I'd appreciate any help.

Delightful!
Hi KarenL,
Yes they have been calling since around the 15th of January. I bet they have been rather quiet the past couple of nights with this cold snap though.

I've been hearing these guys but yet to find one!
Nice photo
