Description:

Weevil, 10.5-17.5 mm long. It is readily identified by its large size and elytra transversely rugose at base and rounded at apex. The ground colour is dark brown, covered by mustard yellow. The larva feeds on various stems of Asteraceae (Carduus, Centaurea, Onopordum, Cirsium, Galactites tomentosus, Silybum), and also from Malvaceae and Fabaceae. .

Habitat:

Mediterranean Europe. Spotted at an evergreen oak and pine tree forest. On Centaurea ornata.
