Glossy Ibis; Morito

Plegadis falcinellus

Description:

At times these can appear to be all black but when the light catches them right they appear brilliantly glossy green and purple, as can be seen in these pictures which show the same two birds over a short period, about 7 minutes.

Habitat:

Coastal Marshes

Notes:

Amongst the other birds appearing in these pictures are Black-winged Stilts, Little Egrets and Lapwings. This is the first time I have seen these birds in this location, they flew in in the afternoon and were still there when I left.
