North American Millipede

Narceus americanus

Description:

This little feller crawled across my tennis court while I was playing. He was brown with a bulge towards the middle of its body. Many many legs that made him move at a fast pace. Or her. Probably 4 inches in length, 1 centimeter in width.

Habitat:

Since the tennis courts are next to a small population of trees, it was not a surprise to see the centipede on the court. This court specifically is next to an open field, with dry grass. Obviously this centipede does not belong in the middle of the tennis court.

Notes:

I am very curious as to why he wandered away from his home. Hopefully I did not misname it's species.
