Paropsisterna obliterata
An attractive small leaf beetle with a green head, thorax and elytra margins. The body of hte elytra showed several patches of black markings on a pale cherry pink base. At the base of each elytron and near the inner margin was a small oblique patches of white. There were smaller white patches elsewhere n the elytra. The beetle looked like it had been hand painted by a child !
Spotted on a tea-tree in a national park near a creek. This little beetle is said to be a eucalytpus beetle but there were hardly any eucalyptus trees around - They have been spotted in this area before so I believe further research is required.

Thanks for clearing that one up Martin.
It is one of very few Paropsis/Paropsisterna group that feed on tea tree and others. See also Paropsis pictipennis( Picture + wings) which is very common now (also on Kunzea sp.) http://www.bowerbird.org.au/observations...
