Kestrel; Cernícalo Real

Falco tinnunculus

Description:

A Lesser Kestrel has been seen and photographed here by one of the workers and although I saw it I have not yet got a photograph of it. I photograph every Kestrel I see just in case! The male has grey panels on top of the inner wings but the female is difficult to separate. Females of both species have brownish heads, not grey, as in pictures 4 & 5.

Habitat:

Coastal marshes
