Description:

Seedpods of Hawaiian hardwood tree from (at least) two seasons.

Habitat:

Active volcano within tropical rain forest, just uphill from and windward of a tropical desert.

Notes:

Spotted near the rim of Halema'uma'u, just across Crater Rim Drive from KMC. On the left are old, open, dead pods. On the right, on the same branch, are this year's new, recently pollinated, not yet ready-to-open seedpods.
