Trigonospila brevifacies
A small fly about 6 mm long with a very distinctive body both in shape and pattern. The fly is mostly black with pale cream coloured bands both on the broad thorax and smaller, narrower abdomen.
Spotted in a reserve.
A native to eastern Australia.
Called "leaf roller fly" because it has been used as a natural control of the larvae of leaf roller moths (Tortricidae) . This is a tachinid fly. A parasitoid of several families of lepidopteran larvae ( moths).
