Baorangia bicolor
Beautifully contrasting red and yellow colors really make these mushrooms stand out. The caps and stems were bright red, and the pore surface was bright yellow. The pores bruised immediately when marked, but the flesh did not bruise when sliced. Mushrooms were 4-6cm tall.
Growing in small clusters on the ground in a mixed, but mostly deciduous forest.
The deep blue bruising of the pores, and the less than dramatic/absent bruising in the stem and flesh over a period of several minutes are identifying characteristics that distinguish this species from similar poisonous species, such as Boletus sensibilis.
